This document describes the different license types that are supported by IdeaMapper software. You may not be able to buy every type of license.
IdeaMapper software requires node locking through an activation mechanism. We do appreciate that this makes the installation more cumbersome but have no choice but to use this mechanism to ensure that users adhere to the conditions laid out in the end-user license agreement which accompanies the software.
This license type enables a single user to activate the software on up to 2 computers. There is no time limit for this license.
This license type enables a single user to activate the software on up to 2 computers for a limited time only, the exact duration is specified in the license itself. The first activation of a particular subscription license is taken as the start date of the license.
Example: If the license specifies 24 months and you activate the license for the first time on January 20th, 2020 you may activate and use the software on up to 2 computers and use it on those computers until February 2022.
This license type enables several users to activate the software on up to twice as many computers as the license specifies.
Example: If the license specifies a 5-Device license then you may activate the software on up to 10 computers.
This license type enables several users to activate the software on up to twice as many computers as the license specifies for the duration specified in the license. The first activation of that license starts the subscription period for the entire license.
Example: If the license specifies a 5-user 36-month license and you activate the software for the first time on January 20th, 2020 then you may activate the software on up to 10 computers and use the software until February 2023.
This license type enables a limited number of licenses to be obtained and activated on computers that access the internet through a given range of IP addresses. This license is typically used by organizations to give all staff members or students access to the software. This is only available as a subscription license and the start and end dates of this subscription form part of the license. The computer does not have to remain connected to the internet to use the software.
Example: Your college purchases a 12-month subscription license starting October 2019. Users install the software and when running the software for the first time use the licensing wizard to obtain a site license for their computer.
This license type enables a limited number of licenses to be obtained and activated by users who have an email address for a particular email domain. This license is typically used by organizations wishing to give staff members or students access to the software who are not on site. The computer does not have to remain connected to the internet to use the software.
Example: Your company Example Inc purchases a 12-month email license and all staff members have an email address for the domain @example.com. User Joe Bloggs installs the software and when running the software for the first time he uses the licensing wizard to request an email license which is emailed to the supplied email address (joe.bloggs@example.com).
