I cannot access IdeaMapper documents stored on my google (desktop) drive!

When you store files on your google drive these files get automatically backed up by the Google Desktop application. This is good. However, even though it looks like the files are stored on your computer they are actually not stored on your computer but will only be downloaded when you double-click on the file. When you try to open an ideamapper document from within IdeaMapper the file will not open and you get a spurious message "Failed to find importer". The solution is to enable "Offline Access" for these files. To do this follow these instructions:

  1. Open Windows Explorer (the file explorer).
  2. On the left side click onto "This PC".
  3. On the right hand side double-click onto the "Google Drive (G:)"
  4. Right-click onto the folder called "My Drive".
  5. Find an option called "Offline access", you may have to click on "Show more options".
  6. When you click on "Offline access" a small menu opens with options "Online only" or "Available offline".
  7. Tick the "Available offline" option.
